side-by-side support for you and your cat

Virtual and in-home cat behavior consulting services

WHAT THE PET INDUSTRY DOESN'T TELL US...

Most problematic cat behaviors can be modified.

Too many cat owners feel stuck. They love their cat, but the way the cat scares their baby or wreaks havoc on the home feels unsolvable.

I get it. These behaviors are frustrating and stressful — for everyone in the home.

01

Aggressive behaviors toward other pets or humans

02

Eliminating outside the litter box

03

Fear-induced behaviors

04

Destroying furniture, bedding, plants, or clothes

05

Attention-seeking behaviors that make it impossible to live in peace

06

Separation Anxiety making it difficult to leave them home alone

07

Tension with other pets inside the home, creating a domino effect of challenges

But with the right education and a customized plan, many of these behaviors can be modified and solved.

"I can't express how grateful I am to Andrea for her incredible help with my cat's litterbox issues! Our cat, Whiskers, had been having trouble using the litterbox properly for months, and it was causing a lot of stress in our home.

From the very first consultation, she put us at ease. She took the time to thoroughly assess Whiskers' environment and behavior. Her insights were spot on, and she provided us with practical, easy-to-follow advice. Within just a week, Whiskers started using her litterbox consistently, and there were no more accidents. It was like night and day! I would highly recommend Andrea to anyone struggling with their cat’s behavior. She is a true miracle worker, and we're so thankful for her help!

“I was at my wit's end with my mischievous cat, Luna’s destructive scratching! Nothing I did was working to deter her from scratching everything. From the moment we spoke to Andrea, I knew she was different.

She listened patiently to my woes and spent lots of time observing Luna's behavior and our home environment. It turned out, Luna wasn't just scratching – she was stressed! Andrea pinpointed the source and created a personalized plan that addressed both Luna's scratching and her underlying anxiety. The results were nothing short of amazing! Within a few weeks, Luna's scratching on furniture completely stopped. She's now happily using her scratching posts, and I feel I finally understand her needs. Consulting with Andrea was worth every penny!"

I get it — it feels like only dogs can be trained.

When you get a dog, it’s second nature to sign them up for pup training. Whether it’s a TV show or your local pet shop, there’s no shortage of training or resources for dog owners who want to curb problematic behaviors in their canine.

But for cats, we just didn’t know training was an option.

Cats can be trained pretty easily with tools and methods that allow us to shape the problem behavior.

With a trained expert and practical solutions, there is hope for your cat’s behavior.

Cat behavior education is available and ready for you.

faqs

  • Practical, realistic solutions to help your cat stop the frustrating behavior.

It’s a research-based approach to identifying the root cause of a cat’s problematic behavior, typically related to stress, a medical condition, and fear or anxiety. Using training techniques, coupled with making practical changes in the home and from the caretakers to redirect, change, or stop the problem behavior.

Just like there are dog trainers, we are cat trainers who help owners figure out how to fix their cat's problem behavior, which prevents cats from being surrendered to a shelter, re-homed, or euthanized.

  • Oh, I hear you, friend. It can be beyond stressful for you and the dynamics in your home when your cat is acting out. While I can’t guarantee a specific timeline, many of the common challenges cat owners face can be adjusted in just a few sessions.

  • The initial session is up to 2 hours. The follow-up sessions range from 30 to 90 minutes. The length of each follow-up session depends on what type of behavior issue we are trying to address. After the Initial Behavior Assessment, I’ll suggest the recommended length and number of sessions based on your cat and your home’s specific needs.

  • At The Mindful Meow, we’re intentional with every cat and kitten — and we see their challenging behaviors not as problems to be fixed, but areas of growth for both the humans and the feline. While we are firm believers that most behaviors can be fixed, some cats are wired in a unique way or so traumatized that their behaviors cannot change, even with a mindful plan. In all cases, we partner with you to determine what’s best for you and your cat.

  • While there are some cases where one session is sufficient, most clients will need multiple sessions to ensure the behavior is sufficiently addressed.

After your initial behavioral assessment, I will be able to give you a general idea of how many sessions will likely be needed and the general timeline for completing those sessions.

Peace is possible in your feline-loving heart and home.

It can feel incredibly lonely (and stressful) to manage your career, your family, and all your adult responsibilities on top of a cat’s problematic behavior.

But with a trained guide by your side who intentionally listens to you and your cat, you can bring harmony to your home and restore or establish that kindred bond with your cat.
